On 2nd November, Ashley Spencer, owner of The White Gate Mirfield, will begin an extraordinary 7-day endurance challenge covering 575 miles of cycling, kayaking and running.

Starting in Berwick-upon-Tweed and finishing at The White Gate Mirfield, Ashley is taking on this challenge in support of TCD.

Why 575 Miles?

The number represents the 575 lives lost to suicide in Yorkshire in 2024.
That’s 575 families devastated. 575 communities impacted. 575 lives gone too soon.

And the wider statistics are heartbreaking:
   •    ðŸ’” 1 death by suicide every 75 minutes
   •    ðŸ’” The leading cause of death in young people under 35
   •    ðŸ’” The leading cause of death in men and boys under 50
   •    ðŸ’” A rising cause of death in young women
   •    ðŸ’” 5 young people every day take their own life
   •    ðŸ’” Around 200 teenagers every year die by suicide

These are not just numbers. They are sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, friends and colleagues.

Why This Matters

At TCD, we work every day to provide mental health support, suicide prevention, and hope within our community.

Ashley is pushing his body to the limit for 7 days — through miles of road, water and terrain — starting at the top of the country and finishing proudly back home at The White Gate Mirfield, to shine a light on suicide prevention and raise vital funds.
